Down the hatch! A most unusual episode from the criminal underworld took place in the village of Kostino in Moscow Region recently. After a local gangster was shot dead by hitmen his body fell down an open manhole crushing an immigrant worker from Tajikistan to death. The incident took place late on Thursday evening near a local cafe named Razdolye (Expanse), owned by the 28-year-old victim’s sister. The cafe had been doing relatively well and the owner had decided to do a spot of redecorating and repairs. Her criminal brother hired a worker and asked him to do some repairs in the sewage well, which lasted late into the night. It should be noted that since the cafe owner’s brother was a gangster he lived a fairly violent life. A year earlier an attack on the siblings left the sister wounded and one of their friends dead. This year hitmen made another, more successful, attempt to kill the mobster. The murder victim had wanted to leave and was already getting into his car, when the worker called him back from the sewer. As he approached the manhole gunmen opened fire from roadside bushes. The gangster was killed on the spot, and the unfortunate worker was killed after the dead body fell down the manhole crushing the Tajik to death. The killers managed to get away.
