The owner of a shop in the Urals city of Yekaterinburg who installed a hidden video camera in the shop’s toilet has been caught. The entrepreneur categorically denied his behaviour was motivated by any kind of perversion – claiming instead that he needed proof that his employees used the restroom to eat stolen sausage.
The shop’s staff discovered the hidden camera by chance after noticing the TV was constantly on in the director’s office. Being curious about what was so interesting on the director’s TV, they waited until he was away and went in to have a look. The picture they saw puzzled them even more – the TV set was on, but it showed nothing. The women pressed some buttons on the remote and a picture appeared on the screen – live pictures of the shop’s toilet.
The shocked women immediately called an emergency meeting of the shop’s workers. The women decided to quit en masse, to destroy the camera and also to write a letter to the prosecutor’s office, saying their dignity was greater than the fear of losing their jobs.
The shop’s director refuses to communicate with the press. He said that he only used the camera to fight theft in the shop. He insists that some staff members used the toilet to secretly eat sausage. Prosecutors are said to be unsatisfied with the explanation and the decision to initiate criminal proceedings is being considered.
