Nazdratenko Accepts Fishy Business

Текст: Gazeta,Ru

On Wednesday president Putin received Yevgenny Nazdratenko, the former governor of the far-eastern region of Primorye in the Kremlin. I emerged that as a compensation for his ‘retirement,’ Putin offered the controversial former governor the post of chief of Russia’s fisheries.

OnThursday it became known that the former Primorye governor has agreed to take the post. The head of the Primorye election commission, Sergey Knyazev revealed the development on Thursday, quoting his conversation with with Nazdratenko that took place after the later met with Putin on Wednesday

“The post was suggested at the meeting with the President,” Knyazev said, “and I suppose that in two or three days Nazdratenko will possibly start working as the head of the State Fishing Committee”.

Commenting on Nazdratenko’s activities as Primorye governor, Knyazev said that Nazdratenko had made serious mistakes and miscalculations while holding the post. The governor was forced to resign due to the consequences, when he saw that the team that he has formed collapsed in a moment, Knyazev said.

At the same time, he noted, Life is not over for the ex-governor, he has a new job and ability to prove his capability to succeed in the new sphere. Knyazev stressed that he is 100% sure that Nazdratenko will not take part in the gubernatorial elections in Primorye.

Thursday’s edition of the business daily Kommersant quoted a high ranking official in the Kremlin administration as saying that they cannot let Nazdratenko to return to govern the province. He would be very hard to beat at the elections, the source has said. Thus, our main task is not to let Nazdratenko or his proteges in new Primorye gubernatorial elections and Nazdratenko’s transition to Moscow will serve as a guarantee that this does not happen. The official also suggested that Nazdratenko will get the post of the State Fishing Committee’s head.

Officials in the State Fishing Committee, however, refused to comment on the possible appointment. The post of the committee’s head is vacant since Putin dismissed its former chairman Sinelnik in January. The spokeswoman for the current acting head of the commission told the press that any commentaries could only be available after the appointment is officially announced.
